Rimmel London's Only 1 Matte Lipstick

A new generation of matte lipsticks have hit the shelves of the beauty aisles in the form of Rimmel London's The Only 1 Matte Lipsticks* which claim 'high coverage and big impact colour'  with 'a non-drying formula'. Have they hit the mark on this one? Read on to find out...

Lets start with the shades, initially I was slightly concerned about the size of the shade selection, with there only being nine shades on offer. However Rimmel have done a pretty good job. There are some amazing nude shades which I think anyone could pull off. There is also a few gorgeous reds, a couple of pinks, a daring purple and a lovely wintery burgundy.

Top to Bottom The Matte Factor, Look Who's Talking, Run the Show, High Flyer,Salute, Trend Setter, Leader of the Pink, Call the Shots and Take the Stage.

I think I'm slightly indifferent to the outer packaging. Although I do like that there is a strip of colour around the base of the product as this makes it so much easier to find the shade you are looking for, rather than up turning lipsticks in search of the perfect shade! In terms of practicability it is very good packaging, the lipsticks are sturdy enough to be thrown in hand bags and the product itself sits next to the bullet casing, I would have loved to have seen a matte black outer casing as I think this would have given the product a more high-end feel to it!

On to the formulation, I am in love with this formula. The consistency is creamy and is easy to apply, it comes out more of a satin finish and then dries down to a matte finish, which makes working with this product so much easier! The colour pay off is also pretty good, I found 'Look who's talking' required a few coats to get a full colour, however the rest of the shades all had beautiful colour pay off in one swipe.

Now the all important feel of the lipstick. We all know that 3 o'clock feeling when your matte lipstick has literally sucked any moisture out of your lips, well I can say I didn't find this with the Only 1 Matte collection. The lipsticks felt light weight on my lips, and didn't cause the 3 oclock crack. I think this is a lipstick range that everyone should give a go, they're amazingly priced (£4.99!) with a quality which is second to none!
